Vancouver Wa Chiropractor: Ankle Sprain
We all have at some point or the other in our lives twisted our ankles. Generally, it is unexpected and happens all of a sudden. The first reaction is always to look around to see what we tipped over on and find nothing that could twist your ankle like a big stone, toys or an irregular surface. Whatever the cause is, ankle sprain is always problematic.
We do this a lot but do not pay much attention to it. We think it is a small bruise or swelling which will go off in a few days’ time and it does. At times, it takes more than a few days but eventually it goes off. We flip off things many times but never take it too seriously until some day it happens again and does not go off easily this time. This is the time we actually start worrying but do not know what to do about it.
So, is it that this weak ankle will not heal at all? The answer is it might not until you go for chiropractic treatment. You need to consult your chiropractor so that he or she can give you proper chiropractic treatment and also give you advice on how to take precautions and perform exercises. It is a common notion that sprain is a worse situation than a break. Many people think so because a broken bone can heal but a sprain never seem to heal.
Our ankle is not restricted and responsible to just one kind of range of motion but also helps in raising your foot and toes off the floor. It is hence also responsible for the motion of the foot and toes as well. It also helps in pushing the foot and toes down. So, it helps in the opposite motion as well. The mortise-tendon joint is responsible for this. This joint, however, does not allow the sideways motion of the foot and toes and hence causes the sprain.
